A serious workplace accident occurred on Rua Vale da Ajuda in Funchal, where a construction worker in his 30s was severely injured after being struck by multiple bags of cement. The impact rendered him unconscious, necessitating immediate medical attention. He was quickly transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, where he remains in critical condition. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about safety within the construction industry in Madeira.

Public Transport Mishap

In another incident, a couple in their 70s was injured when a passenger bus struck them near the Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira. The unusual accident occurred when the bus's rear door, which was open, hit the elderly couple as they crossed a pedestrian walkway. The woman suffered abrasions and a scalp wound, while the man received a facial cut. Elderly Woman Rescued

A separate rescue operation took place on Rua Cidade do Cabo, where the fire department, in collaboration with the police, intervened to assist a 78-year-old woman. She had suffered a fall and was unable to seek help for two days. The emergency services' ability to act swiftly ensured that she received the necessary medical attention and was transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.
