Emergency Services Busy with Multiple Incidents in Madeira

Madeira, a picturesque island known for its scenic beauty and vibrant culture, has been the stage for several emergencies this February. The local emergency services have been actively engaged in managing incidents ranging from fires to medical emergencies, highlighting their crucial role in ensuring public safety.

In the early hours of February 15th, a car fire broke out in Livramento, Monte. The Madeira Volunteer Firefighters were promptly mobilized, dispatching eight personnel and three vehicles to the scene. The alert was raised around 4 AM, and the team efficiently managed to control the flames, ensuring no one was harmed.

Earlier, on February 13th, a brush fire occurred in the Estreito area of Santa Cruz. The Santa Cruz Firefighters responded swiftly, deploying eight firefighters with two heavy vehicles to tackle the blaze. Their rapid response was crucial in preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

A serious workplace accident took place on February 3rd in Rua Vale da Ajuda, Funchal. A worker in his 30s was hit by several bags of cement, leaving him unconscious. The Madeira Volunteer Firefighters transported him to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, where he received immediate medical attention.

On February 1st, emergency services were called to a residence in Chão da Loba, Funchal, where a 44-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters and EMIR, the man tragically passed away. Their attempts at resuscitation, though valiant, were unsuccessful.
