On the morning of January 14, 2026, emergency medical response (EMIR) and the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to Rua das Murças after a man in his seventies suffered a cardiac arrest. Thanks to the swift intervention of the medical team, he was successfully resuscitated and transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further treatment.
Car Fire on Estrada Comandante Camacho de Freitas
Earlier the same day, at around 3 AM, a fire broke out in a car parked in a garage on Estrada Comandante Camacho de Freitas. The blaze completely destroyed one vehicle and damaged two others. The Madeira Volunteer Firefighters and the Funchal Firefighters responded with 11 personnel and three fire engines to control the situation.
