Car Fire Near Luso Brasileira
In the afternoon, a car caught fire near the traffic lights at Luso Brasileira, close to the access to the highway. The Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched with two vehicles, but upon arrival, the flames had already been extinguished with a fire extinguisher by bystanders.
Severe Motorcycle Accident in Funchal
Earlier in the evening, a serious motorcycle accident occurred at the Amparo intersection in Funchal. A young female motorcyclist, estimated to be in her twenties, collided with a truck. She was thrown from her bike, and tragically, one of the truck’s wheels ran over her leg, causing severe injuries likely to result in amputation.
The motorcyclist was quickly attended to by the Emergency Medical Intervention and Resuscitation Team (EMIR) and the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters. She was transported to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for urgent medical care.
Assault at Infante Roundabout
In a separate incident earlier in the day, a 39-year-old man was assaulted at the Infante roundabout in Funchal. He sustained a head wound and was also taken to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment.
