Emanuel Câmara Credits PS Initiative for Solving Mobility Subsidy Issue
Madeira GuideEmanuel Câmara, a socialist deputy, emphasizes that the PS initiative is crucial for resolving the Mobility Subsidy injustices for Madeira and Azores residents.
In a significant development for the residents of Madeira and the Azores, socialist deputy Emanuel Câmara has declared that the resolution of the Mobility Subsidy issue is largely due to the proactive efforts of the Partido Socialista (PS). According to Câmara, these efforts will enable residents to pay only the subsidized fare for travel to mainland Portugal and between the two regions without the burden of post-travel reimbursement.
This statement was made following a meeting with the Association of Commerce and Industry of Funchal (ACIF), where Câmara highlighted the PS's decisive action in addressing the subsidy issues. The PS has spearheaded a parliamentary review of the ordinance that introduced changes to the Mobility Subsidy, proposing significant amendments to simplify the process for residents.
One of the key proposals includes allowing travel agencies to act as intermediaries, submitting reimbursement requests on behalf of the residents directly through the state's electronic platform. This measure aims to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles, ensuring residents only pay the subsidized prices of €79 for residents and €59 for students when traveling from Madeira.
Câmara reiterated the importance of this initiative in defending the autonomy of the islands and providing a practical solution for their inhabitants. He asserted that despite challenges, this initiative by the PS would effectively address the longstanding subsidy issues.
The proposal also removes the requirement for residents to provide proof of no debt to the tax authorities or social security to access the subsidy, further simplifying the process. The PS's commitment to easing the mobility constraints faced by island residents is seen as a significant step forward in supporting the socio-economic well-being of the Madeira and Azores communities.
