The ecoRoute Interpretive Center is inaugurated in Madeira, highlighting sustainable cultural and natural tourism. The center aims to promote and educate about underwater eco-tourism across Madeira, Azores, and Martinique.

In a significant boost to sustainable tourism in Madeira, the ecoRoute Interpretive Center was officially inaugurated this Friday. This event marks an important milestone in the island's efforts to enhance eco-friendly tourism options, particularly focusing on cultural and natural underwater attractions.

The inauguration took place at 6 PM in the Sala José da Silva 'SACA', within the Barreirinha Bathing Complex, as part of the celebrations for the 22nd anniversary of the Center for Modern and Contemporary Archaeology Studies—CEAM. This center has been pivotal in promoting archaeological and cultural awareness in the region.

Over the past three years, the ecoRoute project has developed a multi-dimensional and integrated approach to sustainable tourism. This initiative seeks to offer intelligent cultural and natural underwater tourism experiences in the outermost regions of the Azores, Martinique, and Madeira.

The ecoRoute project is designed to leverage natural resources while promoting ecological awareness and preservation. By focusing on the unique underwater landscapes of these regions, the project aims to attract tourists interested in eco-friendly and educational travel experiences.

The interpretive center will serve as a hub for information and education, offering insights into the region's underwater ecosystems and archaeological sites. This initiative is expected to draw both locals and international tourists, contributing to Madeira's reputation as a leading destination for sustainable tourism.
