Community Mourns the Loss of Three Esteemed Residents in Madeira

The tranquil island of Madeira is enveloped in mourning following the passing of three esteemed members of its community. Ana Marques Teixeira, Matilde Marta Sargo, and Maria Júlia Câmara have left behind rich legacies and a profound impact on those who knew them.

Ana Marques Teixeira, a long-time resident of Santo António, Funchal, and affectionately remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, passed away on December 22, 2025. Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, December 24, 2025. The procession will commence at 9:00 AM from the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça to the chapel of the cemetery of Nossa Senhora das Angústias, São Martinho, where a mass will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by cremation.

The family of Matilde Marta Sargo, a cherished member of the community, announced her passing on December 22, 2025. Her funeral will take place on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The service will begin at 10:00 AM from the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, proceeding to the chapel of the cemetery of Nossa Senhora das Angústias, São Martinho, with a mass scheduled at 10:30 AM, followed by burial.

Maria Júlia Câmara, who was closely associated with the Centro Social e Paroquial de São Bento, passed away on December 21, 2025. Her funeral is planned for Tuesday, December 23, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM from the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça to the chapel of the Lar São Bento, Ribeira Brava. A mass will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by burial.
