Community Bids Farewell to Beloved Locals in Madeira

In a span of just two days, the Madeira community mourned the loss of three esteemed individuals: Sidónio Feliciano Rodrigues Gonçalves, Domingos da Silva Fineza, and António Martinho Teixeira. These figures were well-known for their contributions to the local society and their deep ties with their respective communities.

Sidónio Feliciano Rodrigues Gonçalves was a cherished resident of Tabua, known for his active involvement in community events. His funeral took place on January 26, 2026, starting from the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça and proceeding to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Tabua. The service attracted numerous friends, family, and community members who came together to honor his memory.

Domingos da Silva Fineza, originally from Ribeira Brava and a resident of the Elderly Home in Câmara de Lobos, was remembered fondly by his family and friends. His funeral was held on the same day as Gonçalves', with services at the Church of São Bento in Ribeira Brava. The turnout was a testament to his impact on those around him.

The funeral of António Martinho Teixeira was conducted on January 25, 2026. Teixeira, who resided on Rua Capitão José Jorge Frutuoso da Silva, Monte, was laid to rest after a service at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Angústias in São Martinho. His son, António José Teixeira Vieira, led the proceedings, surrounded by loved ones and community members.
