The Casa do Povo do Porto Moniz, a cornerstone of social support in the Madeira region, is making significant contributions to the local senior community by supporting over 100 elderly residents. Founded in 1973, this institution has been a beacon of social welfare, offering a wide range of programs tailored to the needs of the senior population.
Recently, the institution was honored with a visit from Paula Margarido, the Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Work, and Youth. During her visit, she toured the facilities, interacted with residents, and highlighted the institution's crucial role in the community.
The Casa do Povo do Porto Moniz is renowned for its comprehensive approach to senior care, which includes cultural, social, and educational activities. The institution operates several community centers across the region, including in Seixal, Ribeira da Janela, and Santa, serving approximately 40 regular attendees daily.
In addition to its daily activities, the institution partners with the regional government on programs such as PROAGES and the Regional Complement for Seniors (CRI), offering additional financial support and resources to its beneficiaries. By the end of 2025, these initiatives had reached 111 seniors in the area.
