The APEL School in Madeira has conducted life-saving Basic Life Support training for over 300 tenth-grade students, enhancing their emergency response skills.

In a significant initiative aimed at equipping young students with life-saving skills, the APEL School in Madeira recently conducted Basic Life Support (BLS) training for more than 300 students from the tenth grade. This initiative, part of the 'Everyone Knows How to Resuscitate' campaign, underscores the importance of rapid and effective intervention in emergency situations.

The training sessions were a collaborative effort involving the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology, and the Regional Civil Protection Service (IP-RAM). These sessions are integral to the Education for Safety and Risk Prevention Project, focusing on raising awareness among young people about the critical nature of emergency response.

Led by Professor Nelson Gouveia, the program is also part of the school's 'APELar à Segurança' initiative and the Citizenship Education Strategy. The BLS training was incorporated into the Physical Education curriculum, with sessions conducted by instructors from the Regional Medical Emergency Service (SEMER). Students actively participated in both theoretical and practical exercises, learning CPR techniques using specialized mannequins designed for cardiac massage practice.

This initiative not only highlights the school's commitment to citizenship education but also empowers students with essential skills that could prove vital in safeguarding human lives. By instilling these competencies, the APEL School is making a significant impact on community safety and student preparedness.
